Note, it was really hot in Arizona but we had no medical problems.
The Starting Line

Team 2Cure-HD took off from Oceanside, CA at 2pm Pacific (5pm Eastern/RAAM time).
3-cyclists and 2-crew have some lovely mohawks (Cyclist John is bald so no mohawk). We have an RV and 3-vans crusing across the country for our team - they are loaded with sponsor logos (by Ragamazoo) and educating the public about Huntington's Disease. One vehicle must follow the cyclists 24/7
There are 4-cyclists (Jason, John, Renato, and Scott)...Jason is the rookie.

The crew:
Eric - Crew Chief
Sharon - wife of Renato who has HD
Alexa & Taylor - daughters of Renato/Sharon & genetically at-risk for HD
Kari - cousin of Alexa and Taylor & genetically at-risk for HD. She just lost her dad Kirk Hartmann to HD and crews in his memory. Her brother Alex and her mom will be flying to the finish line in Atlantic City from Michigan, as well.
Brenda - wife of John, and RV driver.
Katherine- wife of Jason...by the way they are newlyweds!
Heather - friend of Jason
Jason - Renato's brother-in-law, who is also a photographer and computer techy. His wife just had a baby, Spencer, one month ago so we are grateful that she let him join the crew. By the way, Spencer attended the race start plus the RAAM send off party when he was only 5-days old.
Cameron - friend of Renato, another great photographer and computer techy.
Rick- Our master bike technician on loan to us from Black Mountain Cycles.
John Jr - Son of John/Brenda who has just recently returned from a tour in Iraq.
Graham.
Nolan.
Note: Scott's wife Pam attended the HDSA National Convention in Oklahoma City (June14-17) to represent the RAAM team in front of 600 people from the HD community (including families, scientists, social workers, etc). The overall feeling from the convention regarding this RAAM journey, was "Wow." Many of the HD patients were the most excited, felt as though they are riding vicariously through the RAAM team, and wanted to thank the RAAM team for everything they are doing just for them: raising money to cure this devastating neurodegenerative, genetic disease, Huntington's Disease (HD).
